The Residential Interhall Congress, or RIC, passed three bills Monday at their weekly meeting.

Engineering Transportation

The first bill provides $500 for student transportation to a regional conference of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers.

The conference revolves around sustainability and local attendees hope to host it at the University of Arkansas next year. The biological engineering department agreed to match any contribution given by RIC.

Founders Bingo Night

RIC passed a bill providing financial support of $500 to a bingo night in Founders Hall set for March 15. The exact time will be determined soon.

The budget committee said that the bingo night’s goal of building community aligns with RIC’s goals. The money will be spent on snacks and prizes. The program will partner with University Housing’s No Woman Left Behind initiative and Chartwells dining service.

Clearstream Brand Recycling

The final bill that was passed was for the purchase of 200 Clearstream brand recycle bags to be distributed amongst different residence halls for the purpose of increasing recycling efforts across campus. RIC gave $90 dollars to the Sustainability Committee for the purchase of 200 Clearstream bags.

Next Week

  • RIC will vote next week on funding a Resident Assistant banquet. That banquet would take place in April at Noodles Italian Kitchen and is estimated to cost $3,500.
  • RIC is always considering a CPR certification class that would to occur on campus.
  • This Thursday, the Residential Interhall Congress will be hosting a “Who’s R.I.C.” event in the University of Arkansas Union. This event will give students an opportunity to find out more about R.I.C. and its members.
