It’s no skinny dipping, only chunky dunking …
when it comes to those inevitable late-nights, long-anticipated weekend or sweet-tooth cravings. When the need for something sweet kicks in, nothing compares to the one place that doesn’t judge you for the extra chunky days: Chunky Dunk.
The reflective-silver food truck was started by University of Arkansas’ own, Sara Slimp, with the vision of a dessert shop being centered around cookies and milk. Opening in May 2015 for the Block Street Block Party, the truck quickly became one of the most iconic places in Fayetteville.
Chunky Dunk isn’t just a place to just taste one of the tastiest dessert staples in town, but rather an entire home experience in itself.

The numerous combinations of mouthwatering, homemade cookies and local Loblolly ice cream creates the paramount dynamic-duo. With one bite of any flavorful sandwich, you’ll have to remind yourself that you’re not in your momma’s kitchen, just the next best thing to it. Tucked away behind Fayetteville’s Funky Yard Sale with picnic tables, strung lights and umbrella’s for gathering under, the welcoming food truck serves as a piece of home when the weight of college piles on. It’s place to pause, get lost in the moment and push aside all worries and stress.
“The atmosphere is very minimalist and antique and makes you feel like you’re back in the 60-70’s,” Madi Carr, UA junior said. “It’s one of the best places to treat yourself to!”
Similar to countless other unique places and staple businesses within Fayetteville, Chunky Dunk is an absolute must to gather with friends, bring family members and out-of-town visitors to taste their rotating week-to-week, flavor-featured sandwiches.
Prepare yourself, after you have one of their signature ice cream sandwiches, you’ll be wanting another one before you get home. Next time you’re in need of a sweet-treat get away, remember “a cookie a day keeps the doctor away. Especially if you add ice cream to it.”
