Living on campus is an amazing experience. Classes, student clubs, and exciting events are just outside your front door.

Your friends are just down the hall!

To make that experience more available to upper-level students, University Housing is offering a $2,000 scholarship to one sophomore, junior, or senior living on campus next fall.

That student will be selected by a random drawing of all upper-level students who have contracted before the end of the day, Sunday, May 2, 2021. Any upper-level student who signs a University Housing contract to live here next fall is eligible.

About 20 percent of students on campus are not freshmen. These students are often campus leaders and are highly involved with extracurricular student life, performing better academically than their off-campus peers.

“We want to broaden the on-campus experience to more students past their freshman year,” said Flo Johnson, assistant vice chancellor for University Housing. “These students are more experienced and influence our incoming freshman and demonstrate to them what success looks like. We welcome more of that on campus.”

Housing offers three residential environments that are only open to upper-level students. These include Gregson and Walton Halls in the campus center and the Duncan Avenue Apartments on the southeast side of campus near Harmon Avenue Parking Garage.

The winning student should understand that receiving this scholarship could impact other financial rewards received from the university. This scholarship will be applied after you move back on campus next fall.
