As the semester winds down, University Housing is here to help you prepare for a smooth move-out. Be sure to review the information below to avoid unnecessary charges and make your departure stress-free.
๐ Departure Sign-Up Begins Tuesday, April 22
Starting April 22, you can sign up for a departure appointment with your resident assistant (RA). During this time, your RA will assess the condition of your room using the Room Inventory Form you completed at move-in.
๐ Be sure to check your online Room Inventory Form and verify that any changes are accurately noted.
Express Check-Outs Available
Prefer a quicker option? You can choose an Express Check-Out starting Reading Day.
- Simply turn in your key at the front desk (where you receive packages) after prepping your room.
- Final day for Express Check-Out: Noon on Friday, May 9.
โ ๏ธ Note: Choosing this option means you waive the right to appeal any damage charges.
Move-Out Deadline
Students must move out no later than 24 hours after their last final exam.
Avoid Improper Check-Out Fees
If you leave campus without checking out properly, you’ll be charged:
- $150 Improper Check-Out Fee
- Additional charges for any damages to your room
If you forget to sign up for a check-out time, there will be a $45 late/unscheduled check-out charge.
Return All University Keys
Be sure to return all keys issued by University Housing.
Failure to return keys will result in lock change and key/fob replacement charges, ranging from $163 to $196.
๐งน Prepare Your Room
Before Your Check-Out
- Clean your room thoroughly
- Clean your sink and bathroom (if applicable)
- Return furniture to its original layout and height
- Remove all nails, hooks, and fasteners
- Leave 3M Command Stripsโour staff will remove them, and you will not be charged.
Dispose of Items Properly
- ๐๏ธ Trash โ Dumpsters outside
- โป๏ธ Recycling โ Recycling in the halls
- โค๏ธ Donations โ
- Leave Green donation bins in the halls (Goes to Habitat for Humanity and Potter’s House)
- Food Pantry donation bins in the halls
- Bicycle donation: Call 479-575-3715 (Office for Sustainability) to arrange a pickup
๐ซ Do not place bulky waste like couches or broken fridges in dumpsters or donation bins.
๐ Extended Stay Requests
Need to stay later than 4 p.m. on Friday, May 10.
You must complete an Extended Stay Request in the Housing Portal starting Monday, April 21.
Approval is not guaranteed and will be decided by your Hall Director (HD).
If approved, you’ll receive an “Extended Stay Approved” sign, which you must displayย on your door until you leave.
๐งพ Closing Meetings
RA-led closing meetings will take place April 20โ27. Be sure to attend your scheduled meeting to avoid delays or charges.
