University of Arkansas Alumni eagerly gathered yesterday evening near Reid Hall for the long-awaited unveiling of the newly engraved sidewalk during a special dedication ceremony. Graduates from years past and the class of 2022 returned to celebrate their lasting legacy, commemorated in stone for future generations to see.
Graduates from December 2021, May 2022, and August 2022 were all invited to this memorable ceremony.
Associated Student Government president Mason Berres delivered a heartfelt speech recognizing the persistence of the graduating class amidst COVID-19 and celebrating their resilience that left a lasting mark on campus. Following his remarks, Berres led the ribbon-cutting ceremony next to Razorback Road and Reid Hall, joined by a large gathering of graduates.
Hosted by the Arkansas Alumni Association, a new tradition has begun, inviting back alumni of 25 or 50 years to walk with the class of 2022, now for the second year in a row. Both alumni from the classes of 1973 and 1999 walked alongside the class of 2022, together reminiscing on their time at the University and sharing their experiences.
Since its founding, the University of Arkansas has valued tradition. In 1876, names were permanently etched on our campus, forever honoring the students who had paved the way for many to follow.
