With Move in behind us, the next official meeting of Lead Hogs will be in each hall Wednesday, Aug. 24.

Lead Hogs is a leadership development program offered to students through University Housing. It is exclusively for students who live on campus at the University of Arkansas. Lead Hogs helps new students learn about leadership and involvement opportunities on campus.

Lead Hogs will be introduced to in-hall and student government aspects of the program during the Aug. 24 meeting.

This includes choosing their building’s Residents’ Interhall Congress representatives on August 31.

Lead Hogs Information

“It is a great way to get to know other students as well as staff members in their residential community, said Residence Education assistant director Megan Witherspoon. “This is the launching pad to involvement in other leadership programs on campus like student government or being a resident assistant.”

Throughout the year, Lead Hogs are involved in three components of University Housing’s residence education program:

  1. Move in
  2. in-hall and campus-wide student government
  3. LeadNow, a leadership training series,

Lead Hogs  moved into their halls on Saturday. They met their resident assistants, or RAs, and fellow Lead Hogs Sunday. Then Monday, in collaboration with the Volunteer Action Center and University Housing, they volunteered during the Assisted Move-In Day across campus.

They helped in elevators, carried boxes, and directed traffic as needed. The Move-In Day would not be the same without the service and enthusiasm of the Lead Hog group.

With all the heavy lifting behind them, Lead Hogs spent Tuesday at Lokomotion Family Fun Park with all the mini golf, go carts and bumper boats they could handle.
