Friday is the deadline for priority contracting with University Housing. Consider these 9 reasons to ReUp for next year.
9. Free Tech Support
Don’t fall behind on Orange is the New Black because your Wi-Fi is down or your computer can’t connect online. Through ResNet, our maintenance team is able to help students for free with any technical difficulties connecting to the Internet that may occur, either by phone, online or in person.
8. RAs On That Hotline Bling
“You used to call me on my cell phone late night when you need your keys. Call me on my cell phone late night when you need my help. And I know when that hotline bling that can only mean one thing,” said all RAs, everywhere.
In an apartment, locking yourself out can mean a tedious process of having to call and wait on an emergency maintenance crew. When you live on campus, your RA is right down the hall to help you with any problem you might have, whether it’s lost keys, roommate difficulties or even just a sympathetic ear.
7. Know Your Community
Living off campus often means rooming with folks who aren’t students. Your roommates or neighbors might not share your educational goals. Living on campus guarantees you’ll be surrounded by the supportive #UARK community whose mission is to help you get an education.
6. Unfinished Construction
New apartment complexes are on such a tight timeline for August move-in that builders sometimes cut corners. Even worse, they aren’t always move-in ready on time. Don’t get caught without a place to live or get stuck in an apartment with construction workers roaming the halls when you come back in August.
5. Naps Between Classes
Grab a power nap between classes. You’re literally minutes from your bedroom when you live on campus. Or run upstairs and grab your hammock and nap anywhere you please on campus, knowing you’re already home for the day.
4. One-Time Payments
Believe it. Don’t stress about monthly rent or risk getting your power turned off. University Housing offers a one-time payment option through your university account that includes rent, utilities, a meal plan, a premiere cable package with HBO and free Wi-Fi. You’ll never have to download Game of Thrones from someplace sketchy again.
3. Fully Furnished
Buying furniture is expensive. Moving furniture can be a hassle, especially if you’re a student who lives out of state (looking at you, Texas and Oklahoma). Save money on furnishings by living on campus. Loft your bed to make more room for activities and avoid those pesky start-up apartment expenses. Take advantage of the included bed frame, mattress, desk, armoire and more that University Housing provides
2. Traffic, Traffic, Parking
Living at an apartment just a few minutes off campus makes a big daily difference in your morning routine. Don’t waste valuable time searching for a parking spot or battling Fayetteville High School traffic to get to the parking garages. Waking up on campus means being able to roll out of bed and walk across the street to class.
1. Extra Time To Do You
With all that extra time saved, be sure to Treat Yo Self. Head down to the HPER for some yoga or a massage, drop into the Arkansas Union for a movie or grab some Starbucks and soak up some cafe culture at the heart of campus.
